New and Charter Schools

Through the New Schools and Charter Schools (NSCS) Initiative, the Texas High School Project supports the creation of new campuses of high performing charter schools and new school sites of successful school developers targeting areas of high need such as urban areas and along the Texas-Mexico border.

These high-performing schools will provide new, innovative secondary school models for the public school system, demonstrating that all children can achieve, regardless of prior academic record, conduct or socio-economic background. THSP/CFT has committed nearly $10 million to the scaling of new school networks. To date, grants have been awarded to five charter management organizations and one school developer for a total of 14 new and expanded campuses in Austin, Houston, Dallas, and in South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley.
